Abundance + Transformation — Beltane on the Full Moon in Scorpio

Aquilegia canadensis (Red Columbine)

BLESSED BELTANE

It’s Friday, May 1, 2026 - a cross-quarter day in the Northern Hemisphere, marking the peak of spring. The sun is just rising over the tree line as I sit and take in the sounds of the waking world. Birdsong moves through the trees, turkeys call across the field to one another, and the geese sound as if they’re celebrating the abundance of new life.

This ancient Celtic festival honors fertility and full aliveness in the natural world - passion, pleasure, vitality, growth, union, and abundance are at the heart of this celebration.

Abundance, indeed. I’ve been introduced to countless new flowers I’ve never seen before. The trees are finally clothed in fresh green leaves. Medicine-making is flowing, with various tinctures, oils, and honeys macerating. Gratitude and joy move effortlessly through me as my presence and relationship with the natural world continues to deepen.

Iris chrysophylla (Yellowleaf Iris)

Beltane marks the midpoint between the equinox and the solstice, and it aligns beautifully with a personal threshold of my own. It’s been five weeks since I began an herbaculture internship - nearly halfway through, yet it feels more like an initiation into a lifelong path with the plants I’ve chosen to walk beside.

Five weeks of full devotion: to the land, to community, to the plants. My awareness has deepened, my heart expanded, my intuition sharpened, and my curiosity is alive and electric.

Calochortus tolmiei (Tolmie’s Star Tulip)

This May Day also coincides with a Full Moon in Scorpio… a deeply personal placement for me (Venus, Mars, Chiron). I can feel the push and pull of its energy: contraction and expansion, endings and beginnings, death and rebirth.

Just as winter yields to spring, something must fall away for something new to emerge. Scorpio is the archetype of transformation, and this moon invites us to release resistance and trust the unfolding.

This has been a central thread in my life over the past few years: shedding old layers, releasing outdated versions of myself, and allowing something truer to take form. Again and again, I’m reminded of the tension that comes with holding on, and the quiet pleasure that arrives with surrender. The path becomes more easeful when we choose to release what we’ve outgrown.

What are you ready to release so you can evolve?

FIRE CIDER RECIPE

A traditional folk remedy, this vibrant tonic can be woven into daily rituals to support the immune and digestive systems. It’s also an invitation into creative medicine-making, working with what you already have on hand and letting intuition guide the process.

We prepared two batches yesterday: one fiery and invigorating (with horseradish and a variety of dried peppers), and one softer, more rounded, leaning into warmth and sweetness.

The blend used for the sweeter batch was ginger, turmeric, garlic, lots of blood orange, lemon, cinnamon, clove, juniper, rosemary, oregano, thyme, onion, and rose hips.

To prepare, place all ingredients into a glass jar and cover completely with apple cider vinegar. Seal with a lid and store in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks, allowing the plants to slowly infuse their medicine.

When ready, strain and reserve the liquid.

This fire cider can be reached for at the first hint of illness, to awaken digestion, or when your energy feels low

Add honey to taste, drizzle into salad dressings, or stir into tea or juice. Each batch becomes its own expression, shaped by the season and your spirit.

As my relationship with the plants deepens, so does my desire to be of service - to share this medicine with others, especially women. If you feel called, I’d be honored to support you through nutrition, lifestyle guidance, or herbal consultations. You’re always welcome to reach out with questions, curiosity, or simply to connect.

Thank you for being here <3
